ReplyDeleteQuiet a hard beating from the "official" importer in UK for the WIZ.
ReplyDeleteThere is big news, linux on the a320 made it to the slashdot frontpage... (posted on slashdot june 01 @1:45)
ReplyDeletei (welshmouse) posted this on the forums way back when it first hit. still think its a great vid though. proof that the dingoo can hold its own against the champion, and this is before linux!
ReplyDeleteThe a320 is amazing, best portable system I have ever owned. By far.
ReplyDeleteBut is Linux really the answer at this point in time? I'm not a programmer, but why "re-invent" the wheel instead of improving upon what's already there? None of the emulators are perfect. GBA and NES are close, but still lots of room for improvement. Would it not make more sense to concentrate efforts on improving the current emulators?
Having said that, I realize once Linux is optimized for the A320 a gigantic world is opened up to potentially better emulators, and far more games and apps. But I'd rather see the current emulators "fixed" so as to garner more popularity out of the system, then focus on Linux.
I'm afraid if nothing is done soon, Dingoo will stop making these bad boys.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

The problem is that we do not have the sources for the original firmware and thus it cannot be improved (emulators) or fixed (see the B/Y button issue).
ReplyDeleteSure, you can port emulators using the SDK, but it sucks and since you MUST have to go through the SDK API, you'll be always limited to what the SDK permits.
Ah, I see. So it's not truly an Open Source platform if they won't provide the original stuff is it.... Damn them.
